Reading the result honestly

  • The model assumes a constant interest rate for the life of the loan. Real rates move, which changes the timing but not the direction.
  • It assumes principal-and-interest repayments, monthly compounding, and that every extra dollar goes in and stays in.
  • Money in an offset account behaves almost identically to money paid off the loan, while remaining available to you — which is why the program prefers it.
